Bene, John


BENE, John, plywood manufacturer, engineer, community activist (b 1910, Vienna, Austria; d 1986, Vancouver). He was educated in Hungary, where his family was in the plywood business and where he earned degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering. In 1938 he moved to VANCOUVER and with Poldi Bentley and John Prentice founded Pacific Veneer Co in NEW WESTMINSTER.
