Alta Lake


ALTA LAKE, 99.6 ha, 120 km north of VANCOUVER, is the highest lake in the CHEAKAMUS Valley. It was completely isolated in 1912, when Myrtle and Alex Philip hiked in from SQUAMISH. Two years later, when the Pacific Great Eastern Rwy (see BC RAIL) arrived, they opened Rainbow Lodge. A popular summer resort, it offered FISHING, hiking, sailing and trail riding.
