North Van Museum Mounts New Show

There is another notable museum exhibit just opened in the Lower Mainland (see my last post) and that is a show called Entwined Histories at the North Vancouver Museum.

The show displays art and artifacts from the museum's Maisie Hurley Collection. Hurley (1887-1964) was a prominent defender of Aboriginal rights in BC long before it was fashionable. As a result she received many gifts from First Nations people, some of them quite historically significant, and these form the bulk of the exhibition, which is at the Presentation House Arts Centre in North Van until November. The show is a joint venture between the museum and the Squamish Nation.

The Vancouver Sun ran a large story about Hurley and the show in its Saturday edition. You can access it here.
