Info on the EBC
The Encyclopedia of British Columbia (EBC) was published in print and CD-ROM editions in September 2000. This Web site contains a wealth of additional background information on the encyclopedia project, as well as considerable resource information on British Columbia. You can use the links below to download extensive sample pages from the EBC. Please note that you will require the Adobe Acrobat Reader to open these files. The Acrobat Reader is also available for download free of charge at the link provided below.
Download the EBC's frontpages
This file contains the foreword, preface and table of contents of the EBC, as well as a complete contributors list and other useful reference information.
Download sample pages
This file contains 60 pages of articles from the EBC, including a detailed overview essay on the First Nations of BC. Please note these pages are uncorrected advance proofs and do not reflect the most recent updates and corrections made as the EBC went to press. Also, the images on the sample pages have been set at a very low resolution in order to make the download file as small as possible. This has resulted in some necessary degradation of photo quality in the sample pages. (Please note also that the complete encyclopedia is now available
on-line in an expanded Web edition. Click here for details.)
