SFU Conference on History and Memory

"Creating Collective Memory". That's the name of a three-day mini-conference of which I'll be a part on November 12-14 at SFU Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver.

I'll be leading a workshop called "At Home in the Archives" which is aimed at taking some of the fear and trepidation out of doing historical research. Other presenters include Stephen Osborne on memory and photography, Mary Schendlinger on how to get your project published, Leslie Hall Pindar on ethical and legal issues, and much more.

To quote the conference organizers, the event is "designed to provide insight, inspiration, and motivation for people writing family stories, community stories, memoir, or biography." For more information, check out http://www.sfu.ca/wp/memory.htm.
